IN THE GUT by Les Femmes Ridicule

Comedy show, grotesquely funny approach to very real fears about Childbirth.

A funny, tragic and ridiculous guide to baking, birthing and breaking the rules. TV chefs Judith and Marie Chantal wow audiences with this unforgettable anti-natal banquet. Les Femmes Ridicule play with their audience from beginning to end walking a fine line between comedy and tragedy. The charming and grotesque duo tackle some of life's unspoken paranoia and taboos in a light and disturbing way.

Les Femmes Ridicule is made up of trio Alice Robinson (Director), Siobhan McKiernan (Actor) and Margot Courtemanche (Actor) who meet while at RADA. In The Gut has been devised by all three and broaches the subjects of pregnancy, childbirth and parenthood. Tackling tragic themes, such as miscarriage and infertility, with a thoughtful and comedic approach. The audience will be introduced to different scenarios that offer alternative perspectives and approaches to the subjects – from the ridiculous and strange, to the dramatic and poignant.

In The Gut was performed at The London Clown Festival 2016, Blue Elephant Theatre May run 2016, Brighton Fringe Festival 2016 and RADA festival 2016, with the support of the Arts Council of England and UK Miscarriage Association.

“Theatre, including comedy, can be a great medium for tough topics and it sounds as if [Les Femmes Ridicule] have a keen understanding of the sensitives involved”

Ruth Bender – Miscarriage Association
